Did you know that you can enjoy plenty of "Bucket List" items right here in Cape Town? So if the Pandemic is getting you down, you don't have to travel too far.

Tourists come from all over the world to enjoy these activities, so why not see how many of these ten bucket list items you can tick off this winter:

  • Lion's Head hike - an iconic landmark which, at 669 meters above sea level, offers spectacular vistas. The hike is about 2-3 hours, starts in the Lion's Head parking lot (off Kloof Nek Road) and is clearly marked. It is child-friendly and dog friendly, but dogs must be on a leash.
  • La Colombe at Silvermist - located at the top of Silvermist Wine Estate, it offers an iconic fine dining experience where "food is theatre", exquisitely made and served in things such as a "birds' nest". Visit Lacolombe.co.za
  • First Thursdays - enjoy a host of art galleries and cultural attractions open to the public until late. Visit https://first-thursdays.co.za/.
  • Segway through Spier Vineyards - enjoy a guided tour through the vineyards followed by a picnic including sampling wines. Visit Spier.co.za.
  • Red Bus Tour of the Peninsula - see the city from another angle by enjoying a Red Double Decker Bus Tour. Visit https://www.citysightseeing.co.za/.
  • Sky Dining Picnic - ask for a picnic basket and fil it with your favourite foods to enjoy while you take a spin on the Cape Town Wheel at the Waterfront and enjoy the city's iconic views.
  • Helicopter over the Peninsula - charters available at the V&A Waterfront. Spectacular views over the peninsula. Weather depending, just about any day of the week.
  • Boat-based whale watching in Hermanus - June to September is whale season and the winter is a great time to get away to Hermanus to spot these magnificent creatures close up. Visit Southerrightcharters.co.za.
  • Babylonstoren gardens - the gardens cover 3.5 hectares with fruit, vegetables, bees, indigenous plants, lawns, a prickly pear maze, ducks, tortoises, chickens, and more. Visit Babylonstoren.com
  • Treetop obstacle course - ziplines, cargo nets and elevated platforms in the Constantia Nek forest offer obstacles to young children, teenagers and adults with trained instructors. Booking essential. Visit acrobranch.co.za.
