Rentals in the time of COVID-19

Category News

Dear Landlords

With our first 'lockdown month end' now behind us we are able to advise you of the measures that have been put in place by Seeff during these unprecedented times to assist you with any challenges you may be experiencing, and detail how Seeff are able to assist with your current rentals and also with rental plans going forward should the projected termination of lockdown be extended.

We are all aware of the impact the COVID 19 pandemic is having on the economy in general, and we trust that an extension will not be issued as it will have even more far reaching effect on the employees of our country (your Tenants) as many companies will battle to manage their cash flow.

A large number of Tenants have been affected by the lockdown financially and this invariably has impacted on Landlords too - it was apparent even prior to the lockdown announcement that some form of 'rental relief' measures would be required in an attempt to lessen the impact for both parties.  To this end Seeff and their Legal Advisors have risen to the occasion with the design and development of legal documentation allowing for the following rental relief options:

  • Rental Deferment i.e. a rental 'holiday' for a specified period.
  • Damages Deposit utilisation with repayment by the Tenant over an agreed upon period of time.
  • Part Deposit utilisation for partial rental payment.

Please feel free to contact your relevant Agent to discuss the above options and the relevant documentation, or to discuss your rental property concerns with us in general.  We look forward to being of service and can assure you of our continued personalised and professional assistance with regard to all aspects of the rental of your property.

Seeff Southern Suburbs Rentals Division are fortunate to have the support of a strong specialist 'back office' staff and the relevant resources, provided by the established Seeff brand, to assist with a very smooth and effective adaptation and transition to a 'new normal' in the real estate industry.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR LANDLORDS?

  • We are fully equipped to digitally manage your rental properties effectively and efficiently.
  • Agents are able to take Tenants on 'virtual tours' of your properties during the lockdown period and conclude Lease Agreements.
  • Rental Estimates can be given by Agents with the assistance of Landlords (or their current Tenants) sharing videos, photographs or doing live facetime walk-throughs of their properties with Agents.

We wish you and your families well over this lockdown period and look forward to being of assistance in our shared new world.
