The rise of Proptech and why you should opt-in

Category News

The introduction of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act) has meant that there is a renewed focus on opting into electronic communication.

Seeff Southern Suburbs fully embrace POPIA and as part of a national brand, the Seeff Property Group we have put measures in place to protect the private information of everyone that we deal with. Additionally, our documentation, website and systems have all been upgraded to comply with the POPI Act.

An important aspect to highlight is the vital role that digital communications and tools play in the world of real estate. Real estate is today largely digital and relies heavily on direct marketing.

Property advertising is now predominantly online and will soon be entirely online. By choosing to opt-in and receive property listing alerts and news, you can stay up to date on the latest listings and trends.

Digital makes it easier to sell, buy and rent property. Everything is now online and at your fingertips. You have much more information compared to days gone by when advertising would be a small advert in the newspaper with a single photograph and limited text.

Before the rise of Proptech and digital, sellers had to put up with loads of viewings because that was the only way to see the property as a whole. Often, interested buyers would come for a second and even successive viewing.

Today, buyers can find all the information and images about a property listing and trends in the market with the click of a mouse, or better yet, by subscribing to relevant newsletters such as those from Seeff.

These will simply pop up in your inbox or on your mobile phone and you do not have to make an effort to go and look for the listings or information. You can choose to scroll past if it does not catch your eye at that point or click through for more information and action.

Buyers can do a virtual walk-through of the property as much as they want so that by the time the physical viewing takes place, it is hopefully at a point where the buyer is really interested.

Even if you are a howeowner or tenant not actively looking to sell, buy or rent, you may want to keep up to date with what is going on in the property market. Seeff has had many examples of where someone who had no intention of selling, suddenly spotted a property or area and decided that it was time to make their next property move.

If you are thinking about selling, you might not know that prices are climbing and that it is a good time to list your property or that your local area is seeing high demand for your type of property. By opting into Seeff's communications, you will be the first to know that.

The same for buying property. If you do not keep up to date with property news, you might not know that property prices are favourable or that the interest rate can save you as much as 30% on a bond repayment compared to just over a year ago. This could be just the incentive to buy your first home or to buy a bigger home or move to a better neighbourhood.

Seeff aims not to "bombard" customers with information, but always strive to keep our content relevant, up to date and informative. We aim to empower our customers (past, current and future), with knowledge to make the best property decisions.

Seeff has always ascribed to the right to privacy being a constitutional right. We have always adopted a policy of talking to clients who want to hear from us. We therefore encourage you to opt-in to Seeff to stay up to date with what is happening and trending in the world of property!
